Can you spell 'Saltalamacchia' without looking?
BOSTON (WHDH) -- You probably know how to say the last name of the Red Sox catcher, but can you spell his last name?
“It’s hard enough to say sometimes not getting tongue tied not even going to try to spell that one,” Sox infielder Mike Carp.
If you can’t tell we’re talking about Jarrod Saltalamacchia, the catcher has the longest last name in Major League Baseball history at 14 letters.
For many the last name often gets shortened while speaking and writing.
“That’s why I call him Salty,” Sox pitcher Ryan Dempster said.
