Big Papi on fire; gives spark to Red Sox
BOSTON (WHDH) -- There's no doubt Big Papi is the spark the Boston Red Sox need when momentum starts sliding the other way. Papi proved again, Sunday night, that he is the heart and soul of the team.
David Ortiz, Boston's Mr. October, he was 3-for-3 in Game 4, but what he did off the field seemed to be just as important.
Big Papi's double fired up the team, and he showed some emotion too. Fans loved it.
“Big Papi doing what Big Papi does. It was fun seeing him rally up the team after that double, but you don’t expect anything less from him,” said Josh Brown, Northeastern University student.
Ortiz lives for the postseason. His walk off homer in the 2004 ALCS is legendary - but he's followed that up time and time again.
“This is it man, hey we’re serious. We don’t get to this level every day,” David Ortiz said.
If the Sox can win two more Ortiz and his band of brothers can do what Babe Ruth did -- win a World Series at Fenway Park. It hasn't happened in 95 years.
“It would be special, the city would be alive especially after April,” said Chris Hart, Red Sox fan.
Fans shopping for Ortiz gear on Yawkey Way have faith in the big man.
“He’s got the experience, the leadership, he’s got everything. He’s the role model of the Boston Red Sox,” said Gustavo Altieri, Sox fan from Puerto Rico.
