Ortiz's hitting prowess compared to Babe Ruth
BOSTON (WHDH) -- The Red Sox have been relying on a slew of players during their World Series run, but there is one player that has been setting a standard not seen, according to some, since 1918.
That player has a pretty well known name, even after 95 years, Babe Ruth.
“I think he's better than Babe Ruth. Absolutely, history speaks for itself. He’s the best,” Sox fan Dennis Doucette said.
Ortiz’s numbers are legendary; he’s batting .733 in the World Series and has 13 RBIs so far this post season.
“He seems to play even better at big moments,” Henry Weinberger said.
When a reporter asked Ortiz if he could ever remember being on such a streak his answer was simple.
“I did it like 20 times this year. I’m being honest. I was born for this,” he said.
Starting pitcher Jon Lester even put in his two cents.
“The guy’s got a heart of gold. He goes out there every single night and competes,” Lester said.
