Worcester's Finest showing the Sox are a cut above the rest
WORCESTER, Mass. (WHDH) -- A Worcester barber proving he's a cut above the rest. With beards all the rage in the 2013 World Series, he's putting a little twist on things.
“I guess designing on people's face and hair, I guess has taken off,” said Luis Montanez, barber.
Louis Montanez is a busy barber at Worcester's Finest.
Montanez has been primping Sox fans, who like the players, are sporting the facial hair during the 2013 playoff push, but these aren’t your average beards.
Chelo Bonilla who owns the barber shop jumped on the bandwagon a while ago.
Now he has the word “Red” chiseled into his beard on the right side of his face, the left sign says “Sox.”
Bonilla says they do Patriots, Bruins and even some Celtics designs, but the Sox stuff is a first for them.
“For the Red Sox, I didn't see as many designs as I have for the Patriots,” Bonilla said.
Montanez says he's not just a barber, he's an artist. It’s a craft he's been perfecting for a decade.
“I think to be a barber, you need to be an artist,” Montanez said.
Fans say as itchy as the beards can be, they're not shaving them off until the series is over.
