BOSTON (WHDH) -- Fans reacted to news of the death of Red Sox public address announcer Carl Beane on Wednesday.
Red Sox Nation was stunned to hear the news that Beane, 59, died in a car crash in Sturbridge on Wednesday.
Fans 7News talked to said Beane quickly became part of the landscape of Fenway Park after he started announcing in 2003.
“It’s just like the feel itself I think. When you’re waiting to hear the reverberation of his voice -- I can hear that in my head. It’s news to me,” said Bob Quinn, a Red Sox fan.
“It’s all of it…you remember that distinct voice always being there, and just have that to not be there anymore, it’s just really sad. Odd,” another fan said.
“It’s really hard to believe -- extremely hard. Part of tradition, heritage. Can’t believe it’s not going to be there anymore,” said Billy Mayville.
