BOSTON (WHDH) -- Red Sox fans, known for their spirit and passion for Boston sports, reacted to the trade on Saturday that is sending Gonzalez, Beckett and Crawford to the Dodgers.

“It’s garbage, I don’t like it. I like the big names, Beckett, Gonzalez.. Stupid, I think,” said fan, David Wiebe.

“It’s a shame they have to get rid of Gonzalez in order to get rid of Beckett and Crawford,” said fan, Jim DiBautista.

“Crawford, no, not sad to see him go. He's been hurt, a waste of money,” said Grady Thurlough.

“I’m a big Beckett fan, I think he should've stayed. Gonzalez, whatever. I just see we didn't get much in return, really,” said another fan.

Some fans are more disappointed than others to see Gonzalez, a favorite, leave the Sox.

“I was surprised at Gonzalez being traded, not surprised at Beckett or the others,” Anthony Gould.

“I think they definitely should’ve gotten rid of Carl Crawford. He definitely wasn't worth what they paid for him. Gonzalez was the only one they should've kept.”

Other fans are more optimistic about the change and believe it will help the recently faltering team improve in the future.

“My gut reaction is that I don’t like change, but sometimes change is for the best,” said a fan.

“You have to make sacrifices now to be good in the future. What they're doing right now, I completely see it. Hopefully 2 to 3 years from now they're right back in the pennant race, they’re making it happen,” said Jordan Jancz.
