BOSTON (WHDH) -- After what can only be described as a really bad couple of weeks for Bobby Valentine, the Red Sox manager spoke out.
This comes as his team’s poor performance made national headlines.
On WEEI’s “Big Show,” Valentine called his experience with the Red Sox this season miserable.
This week’s Sports Illustrated cover says it all -- the Sox manager said he knew the cover was coming, but he was surprised and offended by a question from “Big Show” co-host Glenn Ordway.
“You do get the impression that maybe you’ve kind of check out. Have you checked out of this?” Ordway asked Valentine.
Valentine responded with: “What an embarrassing thing to say. If I were there, I’d punch you right in the mouth. Ha, ha. How’s that sound? Sound like I checked out? What an embarrassing thing. Why would somebody even…that’s stuff that a comic strip person would write.”
Valentine went on to say if everyone saw him at 2 p.m. working young players and then making major in-game decisions they would know he hasn’t “checked out” on the season.
