NEW HAVEN, Conn. (WHDH) -- Baseball season may have ended, but in the off-season some Boston Red Sox players scored big with young fans.

The players and mascot Wally the Green Monster visited patients at Yale-New Haven's Children's and Smilow Cancer Hospital.

Pitcher Craig Breslow founded the strike 3 foundation which supports childhood cancer research.

Some Red Sox players planned on giving an early holiday gift here in the Bay State too.

Players Ryan Lavarnway, Mark Melancon, Ryan Kalish and Chris Carpenter along with Wally the Green Monster could be seen Thursday at the Allston-Brighton tollbooths where they gave an early gift - no fees from 3-4 p.m.
