Cambridge, Mass. -- Harvard students began celebrating early Tuesday morning to honor their fellow alum Barack Obama as he was sworn in as the 44th president.

Harvard Square restaurants had Obama specials on the menu all day long.

At Mr. Bartley's Gourmet Burgers, orders of "Bailout Fries" were coupled with an "Obama Burger."

Leo's Place featured an Obama special: Hot and Sour soup.

"Hot and sour soup, just a reminder that he's going to be facing a lot of hot and sour issues come tomorrow morning," said a Leo's Place employee.

Harvard students were excused from class to watch history in the making.

Crowds sipped champagne out in the cold watching Obama take the Oath of Office on televisions in store windows.

"I have been hopeless in the past few years, in the past year in particular," said one Obama supporter. "This felt incredibly hopeful."

The Cambridge Obamarama was underway at The Charles Hotel at 5 p.m. Tuesday and continued to 10 p.m. The event included the "Obamarama Inaugural Gala on Ice" at the hotel rink, free hot chocolate and a free skate.
