Officials: Bombs kill 35 pilgrims in Iraq

BAGHDAD -- Iraqi police and hospitals officials say at least 35 people have been killed by roadside bombs planted along a pilgrims' route to the Shiite holy city of Karbala.
Officials estimated at least 130 people were wounded in Thursday's blasts.
Authorities said the bombs were planted near at least two police checkpoints about 12 miles (20 kilometers) outside Karbala, south of the capital.
The officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to release the information.
