MOSCOW -- Russian President Dmitry Medvedev has warned the West that any sanctions against Moscow over the war in Georgia will backfire.

Medvedev says Russia wouldn't change its course despite pressure from the West.

He said at a meeting with bussiness leaders Monday that any potential Western sanctions would also hurt the West. He said such sanctions wouldn't entail any catastrophic consequences for Russia.

Medvedev responded to Western warnings that the war in Georgia could delay Russia's access into the World Trade Organization by saying that Russia wouldn't be pressured into any concessions.
