French police hunt Canadian body parts suspect

PARIS (AP) -- French police are searching for a Canadian porn actor suspected of murder and sending dismembered body parts in the mail.

A senior French police official said Friday he is "sure" that Luka Rocco Magnotta is currently in France. Another French police official said Magnotta apparently flew to Paris from Montreal last weekend.

The officials said France's fugitive search unit was ordered to hunt for Magnotta. Both officials spoke on condition of anonymity because they were not authorized to speak about such searches publicly.

Montreal police said they believed Magnotta, who is 29, had fled North America. They suspect he killed a man he dated and made a video of the killing, and mailed body parts to the headquarters of two major Canadian political parties.
