The End Is Near
Posted by Jeremy Reiner
New week but we are still in the same weather pattern as last week with high pressure firmly in control across the northeast. That means after some early morning low clouds & fog, skies will be mostly sunny from mid morning and into the afternoon. That sunshine will boost temps into the upper 60s--low 60s along the coast. Nice spring day. Tuesday offers very similar weather with a little more humidity & warmth in the air as many towns see their afternoon temps soar into the 70s--even at the coast.
On Wednesday we see it all come to an end.
Blocking high pressure finally leaves New England and allows storminess in the south to move up into our part of the world in the form of clouds & a few showers. The storm will be a bit of a slow mover so most of Wednesday will be dry with showers holding off until late day. Of course, this slow-moving storm will keep the chance of rain here in New England quite high for the entire day on Thursday. Temps, naturally, take a hit on Thursday struggling to reach 60.
This storm will slowly exit the region on Friday only to make way for a whole new batch of rain for the upcoming weekend.
We do need rain though. It's time.

Warming Before The Rain

Well, today was almost a carbon copy of yesterday. Temps were close, the coastline was the coolest and sunshine dominated most of the day. Once again, the warmest temperatures in New England were far removed from the coastline. Burlington, VT as well as Quebec City were in the lower 80s this afternoon, about the same as Fort Myers, Florida.

Rinse and Repeat

A few patches of clouds are around early this morning, but overall, the sunshine wins out. However, with an onshore wind, warming temps up is once again a bit of a struggle. With winds out of the east, temperatures across the coast are capped in the low to mid 50s, low to mid 60s west of route 128, and 65-70 west of 495.

Looks Can Be Deceiving

Bright blue skies in early May, and looking outside, you'd think it's a nice, mild afternoon. Deep inland it was, but closer toward the coast, looks can be deceiving. A wind straight out of the east once again held temperatures down in the 50s, creating a bit of a chill to the air. At least it was bright and a fine day on the golf course or ball field as long as you had that jacket handy.

Familiar Phrase

"Coolest coast"... heard that much the last several days? I'll use that phrase again this weekend and even early next week. However, I do expect temps to be a few degrees warmer this weekend compared to yesterday's lower 50s at the coast, although, it's still a far cry from beach weather.
