Change Of Direction

Posted by Jeremy Reiner

Ok......that was a nice little return to early spring weather today. Many coastal cities & towns were ~30 degrees cooler this afternoon compared to yesterday afternoon---temps in the low 50! It was all because of the wind direction. That wind was blowing off the chilly ocean for much of the day (Yesterday it was coming from New York state) and that means sea breeze. Thankfully, it's short-lived.

Overnight, we'll see that wind swing back into the south and that will be with us for much of Thursday. That means we warm it back up. Not record warmth like we saw Monday but many towns away from the ocean climb back toward 70. Here's what I'm thinking for afternoon temps:

The coast will still be cooler than inland but at least it won't have that chill in the air. Plan on more sunshine. In fact, our dry weather looks to continue into the start of the weekend. Saturday will be the *outdoor* day with clouds on the increase but only a small chance of afternoon sprinkles. Those sprinkles will be the front edge of a big rainstorm. That storm will arrive on Sunday and stay until late Monday. Right now, the potential is there for 1-2" of beneficial rain during those 2 days. More on that as we approach the weekend.

Pretty Good Weekend Overall

Sure, it's a cool start with many of the suburbs down into the upper 30s and lower 40s, but we'll warm up quickly through the day as that sun helps us out.

Strong Finish

An overall cooler day, but also a great end to the workweek as highs neared 70, low humidity continued and plenty of sunshine dominated the skies.  Now all we need is this to continue through the weekend right?

Still Good

How about yesterday?  The 82 in Boston matched the warmest temp we've had since September 13th.  Of course, with a wind gusting past 30mph and relative humidity near 18%, it certainly didn't feel oppressive.

Top 10?

Posted by Chris Lambert

Lower 80s, low humidity and sunshine... would you call it a top 10 kind of day?  Only complaint, other than it not being the weekend, is maybe the wind was a bit much?  It certainly was gusty, at times blowing 30-35mph.  No sea breeze will move inland with a strong west wind like that.
