Sun's Return

Posted by Pete Bouchard

Nice to get el Sol back in our corner this afternoon - although he/she was still bobbing and weaving around the clouds (and isolated sprinkles) this afternoon.

Nothing like what fell in the past few days, however:

The next couple of days are drier and brighter (not so much tomorrow, however), thanks to the sun beating back the clouds. I'm game for highs near 80 both Saturday and Sunday - yowza!!!

Tomorrow, as mentioned, is a big mass of clouds. We still have the tail end of this weather system to pass through, and clouds will rule the afternoon - along with a threat for a shower. I'd peg it at about a 40% chance - not worth canceling plans/Sox games over.

Saturday is the pick of the week, and so far, the pick of the month. We have yet to hit 70 or better this month (nevermind 80), but Saturday we have a shot at both. Get your shorts, t-shirts, and summertime gizmos ready now! Mother's Day is equally warm (OK, maybe just shy of 80) but with a minor (40%) chance at an afternoon shower. Still nothing to get Ma worked up over...unlike muddy shoes in the house.

Long range is same-ol', same-'ol. We're still in a rather wet pattern, and the setup next week may feature another stalled front draping itself across New England. As we found from this past weather system, this can be a setup for more heavy rain....and may put the stake in the heart of this (long term) drought we've been in since the beginning of the year.

But put that out of your mind, and ready the sunscreen (after tomorrow).

This Is How It Starts? Really?

Posted by Chris Lambert

So it's the unofficial start of summer this weekend and officially, the average high this time of year hits 70 degrees.  So you'd think we have a good shot at BBQ weather right?  Not much of a chance today with highs reaching near 50 this morning, only to fall back into the low to mid 40s this afternoon as a cold rain settles in.

Rain, rain, rain...

...but for many today was a day of hurry up and wait. Sure there were showers, but not every minute was washed out. With the events unfolding tonight, that's about to change.

Come On Ride The Train

Posted by Pete Bouchard

Heavy rain is on the move! All afternoon long it was stalled over Western Massachusetts and Connecticut. Heavy pulses of rain traveled over the same towns and cities - a process meteorologists call "training" - resulting in flash flooding in some counties to our west.
