Eyeing the Midweek Rain
Posted by Pete Bouchard
Not a half bad day. Brightened up in the afternoon after a mostly cloudy start. We found cooler readings at the coast with highs "only" in the low 70s - or even upper 60s. Debate will rage on whether that is cool or mild. Some need the long sleeves/sweatshirt with those temps, while others are content with shorts and t-shirts. I play Switzerland on this issue and don't take sides or label it "cool" or "mild". I'm sure the debate won't be settled anytime soon....kind like whether Paul McCartney was better in the Beatles or with Wings.
Don't need Brother Michael or Auntie Gin to tell you it's quiet this week. I have a wet, cool day slated for Wednesday and the some slow improvement on Thursday. That weather system is sandwiched between a couple of quiet days tomorrow and Friday. Then there's the weekend. Timing is good for sunshine and warmer temps: the pattern is slow and deliberate.
And that nudges up my confidence in the extended range. We can see the rain coming, and we can see the rain leaving. Timing isn't much of an issue, but amounts are. Wednesday's rain could be anywhere from 1/2 to 1", depending on the formation of a low pressure system off of NJ. If this low forms, it will cut off most of the rain streaming up from the Deep South. If it doesn't, the downpours come home to roost.
More on this later...I'm still smarting over the Celts.
