Be Careful For What You Wish for

Posted by Jeremy Reiner

63 degrees. 64 degrees. One is today's high temperature in Boston and the other was the high temperature for Boston on December 5th, 2011. #MessedUp. Well, be careful for what you wish for as we are going to crank things up by Wednesday (and beyond).

Thankfully, you still have this evening and much of tomorrow to prepare for the excessive heat & humidity (window A/C units) as temps tonight will drop into the low 50s--great for sleeping--and then rise into the 70s for tomorrow.  When going from comfortable air to uncomfortable air one usually has to deal with clouds/showers/t-storms (or as us meteorological nerds call it--a warm front!). This time, only a few clouds will accompany the warm front during the day tomorrow and even the clouds will only partially block the sun. A nice June day.

Wednesday will be hot and humid, especially away from the ocean. Even at the coast, it will be much hotter than the 60s. Here are the numbers:

Hot enough for ya? Thursday will copy Wednesday with hazy sunshine, humid & hot conditions throughout the region. Even Friday offers temps near 90 as well as excessive humidity. That humidity will team up with a cool front (arriving by late day) and pop off some t-storms. Cooler and drier air arrives by the weekend.

PS....the 63 was in December and that 64 was today.

Can Only Go Up From Here

Rain and drizzle continues tonight as temperatures drop into the mid 30s to 40 degrees.  Any burst of heavier precip drags down colder air, and elevations above 1000 feet in northern Worcester County  or southwester NH see wet snow mixing in overnight.  No shovels or plows needed for us, but it is a sure sign how cold the atmosphere is for late May.  As of this writing, Mt. Mansfield in VT has picked up 7.5" of snow and Whiteface Mtn. in NY has picked up 18"!

This Is How It Starts? Really?

Posted by Chris Lambert

So it's the unofficial start of summer this weekend and officially, the average high this time of year hits 70 degrees.  So you'd think we have a good shot at BBQ weather right?  Not much of a chance today with highs reaching near 50 this morning, only to fall back into the low to mid 40s this afternoon as a cold rain settles in.

Rain, rain, rain...

...but for many today was a day of hurry up and wait. Sure there were showers, but not every minute was washed out. With the events unfolding tonight, that's about to change.
