Heat Wave

Posted by Jeremy Reiner

We made it...day 3 of 90+ heat. Many cities & towns reached the mid 90s yet again making this our first heat wave of the young summer. Our heat will be broken this evening by a powerful cold front punching into southern New England. This moving process does come with a price. Thunderstorms. Some of the storms have been fiesty (some have not). The moving process this time of year can be drawn out so look for the threat of thunderstorms well into the night. The heat will be gone but the humidity will linger.

Onto the weekend. That slow *moving process* rears its ugly head in the form of a lot of clouds and a continued risk of scattered showers. I think tomorrow offers 2 chances of showers tomorrow--early (before 9am) & late (after 3pm). By no means is tomorrow a washout though..not by a longshot. Not nearly as a hot as the past 3 days but still some humidity, so the low 80s expected will still feel a bit uncomfortable.

Sunday is the pick of the weekend. Sunshine all day, low humidity and temps in the low 80s. Just dandy.

Looking into next week, another round of showers is likely for Monday and that could be all day. Drier weather follows for Tuesday & Wednesday.

Have a great weekend!

Rain, rain, rain...

...but for many today was a day of hurry up and wait. Sure there were showers, but not every minute was washed out. With the events unfolding tonight, that's about to change.

Come On Ride The Train

Heavy rain is on the move! All afternoon long it was stalled over Western Massachusetts and Connecticut. Heavy pulses of rain traveled over the same towns and cities - a process meteorologists call "training" - resulting in flash flooding in some counties to our west.

Unsettling

Another day where we have cool, ocean air battling warmer land air leading to a clash of air. That means clouds, drizzle, fog, humidity (frizzy hair) for much of the day. It's not a washout though. The highest chance of rain is this morning--until 9:30am and then later this afternoon (after 3pm). In between, you will see a lot of clouds but also some sunshine at times. Even limited sun will be able to shove temps well into the 70s. This warm & humid air is what will lead to another round of showers & t-storms later today. Some of the storms will be intense. Like the past two days the strongest storms will be in western New England. Only isolated showers/ thunderstorms are expected along the coastline later today. Sox game will have the risk of some showers but they should be able to play that game. Welcome back Tito!
