The Better Half

Posted by Chris Lambert

Inside Rte. 128, down through the Cape and the Islands, we were stuck in the clouds and occasional showers yesterday.  Well today, we finish the 2nd half of the weekend on the brighter side.

We do battle a patch of low clouds moving through parts of eastern Mass this morning, but that'll break up as the morning progresses.  We'll also track mid to high level clouds off to the west and southwest of us.  Those clouds filter out the sunshine more and more this afternoon, yielding a milky appearance to the sky as clouds start to win the battle, but at least no rain drops fall from those clouds. Highs this afternoon range from the low 70s near the coast to the upper 70s inland.

Partial sunshine on Monday fades quickly behind thickening clouds and a few afternoon showers showing up south of the Pike, especially across Southeast Mass.  The higher chance for showers continues into the evening as an area of low pressure approaches from the south.  That low is quick moving, in fact, by midnight, the rain ends, and early clouds break for sunshine and a pleasant afternoon on Tuesday.

The nice weather continues through the end of the week, and with highs near 80 and lows near 60, the comfort factor is about as good as it gets.

Just In Time

Summer officially starts Friday at 1:04 A.M., and Mother Nature's sending in summer weather for us just in time.  Mid to late June averages highs near 80 degrees, and we'll be there temperature-wise over the next few days.  Mostly dry too!

That's A Wrap--I Think

I hope I'm not jinxing us with this statement.."The recent wet pattern is over....onto sunshine & a more summer- like pattern.." The last time someone from 7 weather called a pattern change too soon we got a blizzard and 3 subsequent nor'easters (looking at you Pete!!--LOL). We don't have to worry about any blizzards or nor'easters but one never knows in the new world order.

Like A Waterfall

If you were caught in those 'cloudbursts' today, you had more than you could handle in the rain department. Torrents fell in a short amount of time - what we deem 'flash flooding' in the weather biz. Since it happens suddenly, the National Weather Service has adopted the acronym TADD:

Bam! Pow!

Posted by Jeremy Reiner

Bam. Pow! Those were some nasty storms last evening with some towns in metrowest & the city itself blasted with locally heavy rain, hail, lightning and strong wind gusts. A cool front is the culprit and that front will linger across the region again today. That means another round of some scattered showers & t-storms likely.
