Closing Time

Sure was a great summer. Sad to see it go. ;o( but all things (good or bad) come to an end. No different with the seasons..."OK, JR, enough of your rant!"--fair enough, let's move this along. If you are a fan of summer-like weather, then you'll like the week ahead. Of course, I'm mainly talking about summertime humidity as that will surge back into New England starting tomorrow afternoon.
The vehicle that will bring the muggies back here is a storm that used to have a name---Isaac. His remnants--moisture only, not wind---will move into New England tomorrow morning in the form of clouds and a few isolated showers. By afternoon, the clouds are still there and the showers will be more widespread. Humid with temps in the 70s.
By tomorrow night & Wednesday is when the bulk of the tropical moisture affects us with numerous showers and tropical downpours. In fact, this map shows the rainfall potential for Tuesday night-Wednesday afternoon:
Good for lawns & gardens but perhaps a bit much for storm drains, some localized street flooding is possible during the day Wednesday. We will get back to some sunshine by late week and that will push temps close to 80....a humid 80 though. Summer hanging on...
Have a great week!

Rain and drizzle continues tonight as temperatures drop into the mid 30s to 40 degrees. Any burst of heavier precip drags down colder air, and elevations above 1000 feet in northern Worcester County or southwester NH see wet snow mixing in overnight. No shovels or plows needed for us, but it is a sure sign how cold the atmosphere is for late May. As of this writing, Mt. Mansfield in VT has picked up 7.5" of snow and Whiteface Mtn. in NY has picked up 18"!

So it's the unofficial start of summer this weekend and officially, the average high this time of year hits 70 degrees. So you'd think we have a good shot at BBQ weather right? Not much of a chance today with highs reaching near 50 this morning, only to fall back into the low to mid 40s this afternoon as a cold rain settles in.

Rain, rain, rain...
...but for many today was a day of hurry up and wait. Sure there were showers, but not every minute was washed out. With the events unfolding tonight, that's about to change.
