Right On Cue... Almost

Fall officially arrives at 10:49 AM tomorrow, and ironically, the day will feel a bit more like summer compared to yesterday and today. But not to fear (well, maybe fear knowing winter's not far away), I do expect cooler weather to prevail by Sunday night and Monday. The cool overnights are positive for the Fall colors popping out across New England over the next couple of weeks, so we have that going for us as well!
In terms of today's forecast, location is everything as the weather varies from mostly sunny skies to showers across the area. North and west of Boston, mostly sunny skies break out after some morning clouds. Across southeast Mass, clouds hold a bit longer, so we'll call it a mix of clouds and sun this afternoon. For you folks from Plymouth, to the Cape and Islands. Mostly cloudy skies prevail with even a couple of showers rolling in across the Cape.
Tomorrow looks good with any early morning fog burning off, yielding to a mix of sun and clouds through the afternoon, and thanks to a southerly wind, we'll warm up into the middle to upper 70s.
Strong to severe storms march across Upstate New York and PA tomorrow afternoon along a cold front, but we won't have to worry much about that cold front. That front falls apart as it loses it's instability and moisture tomorrow night, so other than a passing shower early Sunday morning, we wont see any rain over the weekend.
Beautiful weather settles in from Sunday afternoon, all the way into Wednesday afternoon.
The next shower threat with another cold front won't arrive until Wednesday night/early Thursday.
Enjoy!

That's A Wrap--I Think

I hope I'm not jinxing us with this statement.."The recent wet pattern is over....onto sunshine & a more summer- like pattern.." The last time someone from 7 weather called a pattern change too soon we got a blizzard and 3 subsequent nor'easters (looking at you Pete!!--LOL). We don't have to worry about any blizzards or nor'easters but one never knows in the new world order.

If you were caught in those 'cloudbursts' today, you had more than you could handle in the rain department. Torrents fell in a short amount of time - what we deem 'flash flooding' in the weather biz. Since it happens suddenly, the National Weather Service has adopted the acronym TADD:

Bam. Pow! Those were some nasty storms last evening with some towns in metrowest & the city itself blasted with locally heavy rain, hail, lightning and strong wind gusts. A cool front is the culprit and that front will linger across the region again today. That means another round of some scattered showers & t-storms likely.

Thunderous Start to Workweek

Heat and a bit of humidity fed a strong - and sometimes severe - line of thunderstorms today. By the time the dinner hour rolled around (6pm-ish), the storms had consolidated into a line. Everyone got a drink of water and a big drop in temperatures - some falling nearly 20 degrees in minutes!
