Channeling Phil Connors
Posted by Chris Lambert
Ugh... enough of these damp and dreary starts to the day already, 2nd one in a row this week, and we had enough of them last week as well.
It's starting to feel like the movie Groundhog Day, and I'm playing Phil Connors. Anyway, drizzle this morning turns into more scattered showers later this morning and this afternoon as temperatures warm up to a few degrees either side of 60. Coolest north and west of town, warmest across interior SE Mass.
Showers end early this evening as a cold front pushes offshore. Skies clear out, and that means drier weather finally starts to move in.
Tomorrow looks like a nice October day with highs running near 60, more sun than clouds and a bit of a breeze.
Another passing shower is possible with a cold front Friday late morning/early afternoon, but the trend on Friday is to usher in much colder air by day's end. Temps fall back into the 40s by sunset and tumble to the upper 30s in Boston by daybreak Saturday, and many low 30s in the burbs, and perhaps even a few upper 20s showing up well north and west of Boston.
The second half of the weekend looks warmer with lots of clouds around and a stray shower Sunday morning, followed by some breaks of sun and middle to upper 60s by late afternoon.

So it's the unofficial start of summer this weekend and officially, the average high this time of year hits 70 degrees. So you'd think we have a good shot at BBQ weather right? Not much of a chance today with highs reaching near 50 this morning, only to fall back into the low to mid 40s this afternoon as a cold rain settles in.

Rain, rain, rain...
...but for many today was a day of hurry up and wait. Sure there were showers, but not every minute was washed out. With the events unfolding tonight, that's about to change.

Come On Ride The Train

Heavy rain is on the move! All afternoon long it was stalled over Western Massachusetts and Connecticut. Heavy pulses of rain traveled over the same towns and cities - a process meteorologists call "training" - resulting in flash flooding in some counties to our west.
