Gearing Up For The Weekend
Posted by Pete Bouchard
Hardest thing about the day after marathon coverage on a storm (besides the lack of sleep): finding things to talk about.
When you're knee-deep in a storm, there's an overabundance of things to discuss. Weather graphics almost make themselves. After everything settles down, however, nothing measures up. Everything seems mundane. Temps? Hmph. Sunshine? Meh.
But that's the idea, isn't it? Peace and quiet. Recharging the batteries for the next storm. (No, there aren't any on the horizon.)
So here are the details: holiday weekend warmup, no storms brewing, seasonable late next week.
Of all the days this weekend, Saturday is 'odd man out'. It will be a bit cloudier than the other two, and the temperatures don't move all that much. In fact, we'll see similar numbers to today: upper 40s to low 50s.
The warmth surges a bit too late to send the temperature soaring Sunday, but come Monday we should crest in the mid 60s! This time of year, it takes a couple of days for the mild air to settle in. And, as we'll find by the middle of next week, it can be easily pushed aside with just a simple cold front.
Have a great weekend!

Quite a few clouds in the sky at times this afternoon, but the atmosphere lacked ample moisture to produce showers, so we made out just fine with temps near 70. Even the coast made it well into the 60s before the onshore wind knocked temps back.

Pretty Good Weekend Overall

Sure, it's a cool start with many of the suburbs down into the upper 30s and lower 40s, but we'll warm up quickly through the day as that sun helps us out.

An overall cooler day, but also a great end to the workweek as highs neared 70, low humidity continued and plenty of sunshine dominated the skies. Now all we need is this to continue through the weekend right?

How about yesterday? The 82 in Boston matched the warmest temp we've had since September 13th. Of course, with a wind gusting past 30mph and relative humidity near 18%, it certainly didn't feel oppressive.
