Cool Weekend
Posted by Pete Bouchard
Let's see...we saw some fuzzy sun (hidden behind lots of high clouds), some chilly temps, light breezes, and dry weather.
Yep, that sounds about right for this pattern. And there's more in store in the WEEK ahead.
Clouds will be leaving us relatively soon, however. Because of that (clouds typically act as a "blanket" and keep the temperatures from falling quickly), temperatures will crumble after midnight. I expect lows to be in the low/mid 20s in some suburbs by morning.
Sun goes to work full-force tomorrow to bring us to the brink of 50 (oh boy). For what it's worth, our normal high is 52, so we're not far off. The weekend will see more sun and blue sky with light breeze. This is very unusual for the month of November. It's typically the cloudiest AND (at 3.98") the wettest month of the year!
We're sitting pretty for the next 7-10 days. No storms will threaten for Thanksgiving or the holiday weekend. The only major change I see is the possibility of a shot of cold air at the finish of Thanksgiving weekend. Could be enough to plunge us into the 30s.
Stay tuned.
Have a good weekend.
Pete

Wild & Wacky

Wild temperatures yesterday---from the 80s down into the low 60s in just an hour AND some heavy duty thunderstorms. The reason was a cool front that dropped in from Maine. That front is in western New England this morning and it's a chameleon as it will become a warm front and try to warm things back up during the day.

What a day! Breakneck temperature swings, thunder, tornadoes in Western Mass....and we're still in late May!

More Warmth

You have another warm & humid day with many towns repeating yesterday's weather. That means we start with clouds & fog for a bit before hazy sun gets going. That hazy sunshine will boost temps up into the low 80s by early to mid afternoon across much of the region. At the same time a cool front will begin dropping out of Maine (backdoor front) which will quickly send temps from the 70s/80s down into the 50s/60s by late afternoon & evening. Also, when this front rams into the warmth & humidity it will spark a few showers & thunderstorms during the afternoon.

Summ-ah!

With the snap of the fingers we were thrown into summer this afternoon. Heat, humidity, A/C and shorts - with a hazy sun to boot. But with the sea breeze knocking back the temperatures (and bringing in a round of downpours this evening), there are changes afoot.
