Back to Work, School & Mornings
Posted by Jeremy Reiner
At least for a while, I'll be back on mornings--perhaps longer. In terms of our weather, it's a chilly pattern this week with each day offering temps below normal (normal being 48). The upshot of this chilly air is that it's dry air so most of the week is storm-free. Mostly.
Today offers a mix of sun & clouds and temps will crawl into the low & mid 40s for a few hours this afternoon. A westerly wind around 10mph will be present and this (aside from it being Monday) will be your enemy as that wind will add a chill to the air. Clear skies this evening with clouds returning late tonight.
Tomorrow offers our only *storm* of the week. It's a weak storm that will pass south of New England by a wide margin. Those 2 factors prevent that storm from being a bread & milk storm. A storm nonetheless with cloudy skies and the likelihood of seeing a few snow flurries. The best chance for the snow flurries will be along & south of the MA pike beginning midday and lasting into late afternoon. There could even be a burst of some light snow for a few hours tomorrow afternoon. If that were to happen, then a coating of snow would be likely from the Attleboro area eastward to the South Shore. Cloudy skies are all that is likely north of the Ma Pike.
By Wednesday, it's back to sunshine but continued cold with temps remaining below normal. In fact, even colder weather looks to arrive by Friday with afternoon temps stuck in the 30s.
Have a great Monday--happy cyber-shopping!

What a day! Breakneck temperature swings, thunder, tornadoes in Western Mass....and we're still in late May!

More Warmth

You have another warm & humid day with many towns repeating yesterday's weather. That means we start with clouds & fog for a bit before hazy sun gets going. That hazy sunshine will boost temps up into the low 80s by early to mid afternoon across much of the region. At the same time a cool front will begin dropping out of Maine (backdoor front) which will quickly send temps from the 70s/80s down into the 50s/60s by late afternoon & evening. Also, when this front rams into the warmth & humidity it will spark a few showers & thunderstorms during the afternoon.

With the snap of the fingers we were thrown into summer this afternoon. Heat, humidity, A/C and shorts - with a hazy sun to boot. But with the sea breeze knocking back the temperatures (and bringing in a round of downpours this evening), there are changes afoot.

Right into summer. Warm & humid weather expected for much of the week. Good?.....Well, keep in mind that warmth & humidity are the 2 key ingredients for thunderstorms. The last being something to *lift* that warm/humid air. Usually a front is a good device to do such that. Today, we will have a cool front approach New England very late in the day & evening. That may lead to an isolated storm or two after 4pm but most towns just have a fair amount of clouds, warmth & humidity. Temps will climb to near 80 by afternoon.
