Leftovers Are Done
Posted by Chris Lambert
Completely finish the leftover Thanksgiving dinner yet? Well, whether you're food is gone or not, our leftover Thanksgiving sunshine fades away not long after sunrise tomorrow, foreshadowing a few flakes that will arrive.
It won't be a whopper by any stretch, but perhaps enough of a flurry to get you in the Holiday mood. I expect some light snow and flurries to break out after 10:00 AM tomorrow, and be on and off into the afternoon. There may be a batch of steadier light snow in interior Plymouth County and the northern 2/3rds of Bristol County that drops a coating to an 1" of snow, but don't expect a big storm. Along the Plymouth County coast, Cape and Islands, the air is too mild to support all snow, so well get some rain drops to mix in as well.
Sorry snow lovers, that's all I got! With temps running in the mid to upper 30s, a little salt and sand on the road should do the trick to keep roads ice free, although, after sunset, there will likely be a few slick spots as temps slide back under the freezing mark.
One thing we'll have to watch for tomorrow evening is as this storm streghtens well offshore, it could linger some snow across SE Mass, allowing for additional light accumulations and slippery spots.
Behind this system, we're colder than average though the end of the week, but could indeed near 50 by the second half of the weekend.

Summer officially starts Friday at 1:04 A.M., and Mother Nature's sending in summer weather for us just in time. Mid to late June averages highs near 80 degrees, and we'll be there temperature-wise over the next few days. Mostly dry too!

That's A Wrap--I Think

I hope I'm not jinxing us with this statement.."The recent wet pattern is over....onto sunshine & a more summer- like pattern.." The last time someone from 7 weather called a pattern change too soon we got a blizzard and 3 subsequent nor'easters (looking at you Pete!!--LOL). We don't have to worry about any blizzards or nor'easters but one never knows in the new world order.

If you were caught in those 'cloudbursts' today, you had more than you could handle in the rain department. Torrents fell in a short amount of time - what we deem 'flash flooding' in the weather biz. Since it happens suddenly, the National Weather Service has adopted the acronym TADD:

Bam. Pow! Those were some nasty storms last evening with some towns in metrowest & the city itself blasted with locally heavy rain, hail, lightning and strong wind gusts. A cool front is the culprit and that front will linger across the region again today. That means another round of some scattered showers & t-storms likely.
