Cold? We've Got This

Posted by Jeremy Reiner

Nothing like an arctic front in late November. While we are in the low 30s here, farther north in ME/VT/NH temps are running in the 10s---quite impressive for this time of year. For us, that arctic air doesn't quite make it here but what it will do is keep us in the low to mid 30s for the entire day. Yet another day this month with colder than normal temperatures (for those of you scoring at home that's 19 of 30 days with below normal temps). Like many other days this month, it will also be dry with clouds & sun battling for your attention.

Moving onto the weekend! Tomorrow is moving day--meaning we will begin to move this month-long chill out of New England. This moving process does come with a price as we will see clouds & even a few patches of light snow & flurries through the day (Coating on the grass type snow). Temps tomorrow slowly climb into the upper 30s by late afternoon. In fact, as we continue into the evening the temps will keep rising into the low 40s by early Sunday morning!

By Sunday, the warmth will be here. Most towns will breeze out of the 40s during the morning hours and reach the mid & upper 50s by afternoon. Ideal for getting the Christmas tree or putting up the holiday lights--Griswold style!!

Much of next week--the first week of December---will behave more like early November with highs in the upper 50s for several days!
No worries snow lovers, I think our pattern gets fun sometime around December 11th-14th.

Strong Finish

Posted by Chris Lambert

An overall cooler day, but also a great end to the workweek as highs neared 70, low humidity continued and plenty of sunshine dominated the skies.  Now all we need is this to continue through the weekend right?

Still Good

How about yesterday?  The 82 in Boston matched the warmest temp we've had since September 13th.  Of course, with a wind gusting past 30mph and relative humidity near 18%, it certainly didn't feel oppressive.

Top 10?

Posted by Chris Lambert

Lower 80s, low humidity and sunshine... would you call it a top 10 kind of day?  Only complaint, other than it not being the weekend, is maybe the wind was a bit much?  It certainly was gusty, at times blowing 30-35mph.  No sea breeze will move inland with a strong west wind like that.

September 14th, 2012

Posted by Jeremy Reiner

September 14th, 2012. That's the last time Boston had a high temp of 80 (81 that day)--nearly 8 months ago. That streak should end today as yesterday's much advertised warm front did its thing, leaving us with a nice warm bubble of air today. I think metro Boston reaches the low 80s under partly to mostly sunny skies. One reason for the warmth is it's leftover super heat from the Midwest and also a fiesty west wind 10-20mph keeping that chilly ocean air at bay. All in all, a great late spring/early summer day.
