Turnaround Time
Posted by Chris Lambert
It's an uneven start this morning with temps northwest of Boston still below freezing and temps south of the city in the lower 50s. Since temps are running at or below freezing NW of Boston, a winter weather advisory is still in effect until 9AM thanks to some slick spots on the roads and a touch of freezing fog/freezing drizzle.
The icy start for some won't last long as the milder air finally wins out. The temps that are in the 50s across SE Mass, overspread most other areas this afternoon. Highs will range from near 50 in the Merrimack Valley to the upper 50s south of Boston. Boston itself should hit about 55.
A few showers cross the area tonight... just plain old rain this time. Lows bottom off in the lower to middle 40s.
Mild weather continues on Monday and Tuesday with highs well into the 50s, if not near 60 by Tuesday!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend and go Pats!

Wild & Wacky

Wild temperatures yesterday---from the 80s down into the low 60s in just an hour AND some heavy duty thunderstorms. The reason was a cool front that dropped in from Maine. That front is in western New England this morning and it's a chameleon as it will become a warm front and try to warm things back up during the day.

What a day! Breakneck temperature swings, thunder, tornadoes in Western Mass....and we're still in late May!

More Warmth

You have another warm & humid day with many towns repeating yesterday's weather. That means we start with clouds & fog for a bit before hazy sun gets going. That hazy sunshine will boost temps up into the low 80s by early to mid afternoon across much of the region. At the same time a cool front will begin dropping out of Maine (backdoor front) which will quickly send temps from the 70s/80s down into the 50s/60s by late afternoon & evening. Also, when this front rams into the warmth & humidity it will spark a few showers & thunderstorms during the afternoon.

With the snap of the fingers we were thrown into summer this afternoon. Heat, humidity, A/C and shorts - with a hazy sun to boot. But with the sea breeze knocking back the temperatures (and bringing in a round of downpours this evening), there are changes afoot.
