Rather Active

Ready for an active pattern? Starting today through the middle of next week a number of storms will take a swipe at us. None of these are epic blockbusters but they will be capable of blocking out the sun and tossing raindrops our way.
Our first tussle with these storms is already under way now (7am) with mostly cloudy skies and as we step through the day, the clouds will own us and eventually some rain showers too--especially after 2pm. Due to all the clouds & raindrops, our temperatures have a hard time making it out of the 30s for much of the day but by late afternoon the temps will hop over the 40 mark. Look for a scattering of rain showers this evening with temps holding in the low 40s.
Saturday will start how Friday finished....clouds & showers but as we work through the day the showers will fade offering dry weather after 2pm. The clouds will hang though for the entire day keeping temps pinned in the low & mid 40s.
Sunday will be the drier of the 2 weekend days despite all sorts of clouds. High temps will be a smidge warmer than Saturday with most towns reaching the upper 40s. Sunday will be the day for getting the Christmas tree of putting up the holiday lights outside.
As we sneak a peak into next week, another bag of clouds & showers will arrive Monday morning--take a break--then re-appear by Monday evening. At this time, the Patriots game will feature showers with temps in the upper 40s.
Have a great weekend!

What a day! Breakneck temperature swings, thunder, tornadoes in Western Mass....and we're still in late May!

More Warmth

You have another warm & humid day with many towns repeating yesterday's weather. That means we start with clouds & fog for a bit before hazy sun gets going. That hazy sunshine will boost temps up into the low 80s by early to mid afternoon across much of the region. At the same time a cool front will begin dropping out of Maine (backdoor front) which will quickly send temps from the 70s/80s down into the 50s/60s by late afternoon & evening. Also, when this front rams into the warmth & humidity it will spark a few showers & thunderstorms during the afternoon.

With the snap of the fingers we were thrown into summer this afternoon. Heat, humidity, A/C and shorts - with a hazy sun to boot. But with the sea breeze knocking back the temperatures (and bringing in a round of downpours this evening), there are changes afoot.

Right into summer. Warm & humid weather expected for much of the week. Good?.....Well, keep in mind that warmth & humidity are the 2 key ingredients for thunderstorms. The last being something to *lift* that warm/humid air. Usually a front is a good device to do such that. Today, we will have a cool front approach New England very late in the day & evening. That may lead to an isolated storm or two after 4pm but most towns just have a fair amount of clouds, warmth & humidity. Temps will climb to near 80 by afternoon.
