Nearing The End Of The Yellow Brick Road

Posted by Jeremy Reiner

Dear World,

Boom--Welcome to winter! What a storm yesterday with the rain, snow, wind & coastal flooding. We get to gather our thoughts today & resume our holiday plans with sunshine & dry roads (mainly--some melting will occur). Overall, a nice winter day ahead.

As we roll into the weekend, another storm takes aim on New England. Thankfully, this will not be like its older brother but it will be strong enough to snarl traffic/travel plans late tomorrow afternoon & evening with snow returning to the region. Tomorrow morning will be dry but look for light snow to arrive early Saturday afternoon (12-2pm) and continue well into late Saturday night. The *Special Map* in our maps section details the snowfall potential for the storm.

By Sunday, the storm is looooong gone but winter is just waking up! Blustery & cold conditions will be the rule with temps spending much of the day in the upper 20s--wind chills will be in the teens. That Patriots game will be dry, blustery & cold with kickoff temps in the upper 20s (wind chills in the teens). Go Pats!

The final hours of 2012 will offer dry conditions and seasonably chilly weather--daytime highs on Monday in the mid 30s and evening temps settling into the 20s for First Night festivities.

Have a great weekend!

This Is How It Starts? Really?

So it's the unofficial start of summer this weekend and officially, the average high this time of year hits 70 degrees.  So you'd think we have a good shot at BBQ weather right?  Not much of a chance today with highs reaching near 50 this morning, only to fall back into the low to mid 40s this afternoon as a cold rain settles in.

Rain, rain, rain...

...but for many today was a day of hurry up and wait. Sure there were showers, but not every minute was washed out. With the events unfolding tonight, that's about to change.

Come On Ride The Train

Posted by Pete Bouchard

Heavy rain is on the move! All afternoon long it was stalled over Western Massachusetts and Connecticut. Heavy pulses of rain traveled over the same towns and cities - a process meteorologists call "training" - resulting in flash flooding in some counties to our west.
