Today is a cold day, no getting around that. The coldest of the winter (so far) as many towns are starting just a few degrees above zero & some towns even south of the goose-egg. That's just temperature---add in a little wind and it feels like it's below zero for many cities & towns! As we step through the day, our temps will struggle to reach the low 20s by afternoon---far below our normal high temps in the upper 30s.
As we move from the afternoon & into the evening, temps get wacky as they actually continue their upward trend from the afternoon. In fact, temperatures by early tomorrow morning will reach the upper 20s! That will set us up for some milder weather for Finally Friday. Temps return to normal on Friday with most towns in the upper 30s, the only issue is that a westerly breeze will mask some of that mild feel to the air.
Looking into the weekend, there are no big storms (no little ones either), no shots of bitterly cold air and no record warmth. In fact, a nice January weekend in store with afternoon highs in the 30s each day and sunny skies on Saturday. Sunday will offer clouds & some early morning flurries. No big deal.
It appears our January Thaw will arrive next week with afternoon highs in the 40s!
