The Good, Bad & The Ugly
Posted by Jeremy Reiner
Enough of that dang wind. Too much wind even though temps reached 50 yesterday! Good news....not much wind next few days. Bad news......absolutely no shot of 50 degree weather at anytime this week. This will be a rough week on us as bitterly cold air and two shots of plowable snow on the way.
Today is a decent winter day with sun followed by clouds throughout the afternoon. Even though temps will be seasonably cold (afternoon highs 25-30) there won't be hardly any wind. Good day for taking the kids skiing! Those clouds continue to gather and will even toss a few flurries along the coastline early this evening.
As the evening grows late, the flurries will become a steady snow for much of the night. Unlike many of our winter storms, this latest storm will do most of its dirty work (in terms of snowfall) along the coastline. This map shows the snow potential for late tonight-midday Tuesday:

Needless to say, the morning commute on Tuesday will be rough. Adding to the fun will be arctic air arriving during the afternoon sending morning temps in the 20s into the teens by late day.
Some wicked cold air is in here for all day Wednesday & again on Thursday. Lows each of those mornings near zero and afternoon highs only in the teens. It will warm up on Friday but that warmer air is tied to a storm. That storm looks to bring another batch of snow--perhaps more widespread and heavier. Winter being winter.
JR, you didn't mention "the ugly"
Oh right-----Patriots second half last night. Plenty ugly.

Pulling The Fade

Our fun in the sun ends this afternoon as morning sunshine fades behind thickening clouds. As those clouds increase, a few showers break out this afternoon from west to east, with the highest chance for rain late afternoon and this evening. Most of the showers are light, especially the early afternoon ones, but a heavier shower or two is possible near day's end and early this evening. Highs reach the mid to upper 60s around noon, then fall back to near 60 mid to late afternoon thanks to scattered showers. These showers are brought to us by a warm front.

Quite a few clouds in the sky at times this afternoon, but the atmosphere lacked ample moisture to produce showers, so we made out just fine with temps near 70. Even the coast made it well into the 60s before the onshore wind knocked temps back.

Pretty Good Weekend Overall

Sure, it's a cool start with many of the suburbs down into the upper 30s and lower 40s, but we'll warm up quickly through the day as that sun helps us out.

Strong Finish

An overall cooler day, but also a great end to the workweek as highs neared 70, low humidity continued and plenty of sunshine dominated the skies. Now all we need is this to continue through the weekend right?
