Bitter Blast
Posted by Jeremy Reiner
It's not unusual (Tom Jones?) to get a wicked cold day like yesterday during the winter but when you start to stack them up back to back, then it does become unusual. Today is bitterly cold once again with temperatures only reaching the upper teens but those wind chill temperatures will stay below zero for just about the entire day. Hey, at least that sun will shine. Clear & very cold tonight with lows once again down near zero (and below).
Friday offers some milder weather with afternoon temps reaching the lower 20s during the afternoon. The reason for the milder air is a storm that will slide south of New England late in the day & evening. I don't think this storm will do much in terms of snowfall---it's just too far away. There will be some patchy light snow & flurries arriving around 7pm & continuing overnight but most towns along the MA Pike & south shore see only a coating to an inch (Flurries north of the Pike). Closer to Buzzards Bay & Cape Cod you will find some steadier snow tomorrow night & 2-3" is likely down that way.
In any event, the weekend sees the bitter grip relax just a bit with afternoon temps both Saturday & Sunday reaching the upper 20s. Sunshine is around at times on Saturday and is all over the place on Sunday. Saturday may offer more wind than Sunday.
Looking into next week, our pattern flips back to a warmer & stormier pattern as rain & 40 degree weather may be heading this way.
Stay warm (and classy).

Quite a few clouds in the sky at times this afternoon, but the atmosphere lacked ample moisture to produce showers, so we made out just fine with temps near 70. Even the coast made it well into the 60s before the onshore wind knocked temps back.

Pretty Good Weekend Overall

Sure, it's a cool start with many of the suburbs down into the upper 30s and lower 40s, but we'll warm up quickly through the day as that sun helps us out.

An overall cooler day, but also a great end to the workweek as highs neared 70, low humidity continued and plenty of sunshine dominated the skies. Now all we need is this to continue through the weekend right?

Still Good

How about yesterday? The 82 in Boston matched the warmest temp we've had since September 13th. Of course, with a wind gusting past 30mph and relative humidity near 18%, it certainly didn't feel oppressive.
