Snow Will Go
Posted by Pete Bouchard
Well, this is it: the 1st snow event of the season for the evening commute. Not a barn-burner, but it's slow and slushy out there. Waves of snow are coming through the Commonwealth with this system, so we get a break from time to time. Nonetheless, here's the end result:

Already getting reports from our spotters via email and Twitter of the mix working in through Metrowest. This will act to make it more slippery (no-brainer there) and cut down on amounts. Nice tidy snow event tonight, so we're confident the snow/mix will taper after midnight. The morning commute is much better, but wheel spray may still be an issue as the snow begins to melt.
Melt? What? No deep-freeze coming?
Hahaha! Hardly! In fact, this is warm front, and as its name implies, temperatures will warm up in the wake of the snow. We're talking spring-like stuff here folks. Highs will break freezing tomorrow, but Wednesday is the day we'll soar on a gusty southwest wind. With a lil' help from el Sol, we might even hit 60 in the city on Wednesday! That's how mild the airmass will be.
As the front crosses on Wednesday night, there might even be some rumbles of thunder as the mild air is supplanted by a cold rush of air. Still, I think highs on Thursday will be a respectable 40+ as the air will take time to settle in.
Colder for the finish to the workweek, but there may be some more snow lurking around the corner on Sunday. Stay with us.

Warming Up and Unsettled

Well, it certainly was a great weekend weather-wise until this afternoon when the temps dropped and light showers moved in from west to east. Despite the cool down, the theme for this upcoming week is warmer with higher humidity. It'll also be unsettled at times.

Pulling The Fade

Our fun in the sun ends this afternoon as morning sunshine fades behind thickening clouds. As those clouds increase, a few showers break out this afternoon from west to east, with the highest chance for rain late afternoon and this evening. Most of the showers are light, especially the early afternoon ones, but a heavier shower or two is possible near day's end and early this evening. Highs reach the mid to upper 60s around noon, then fall back to near 60 mid to late afternoon thanks to scattered showers. These showers are brought to us by a warm front.

Quite a few clouds in the sky at times this afternoon, but the atmosphere lacked ample moisture to produce showers, so we made out just fine with temps near 70. Even the coast made it well into the 60s before the onshore wind knocked temps back.

Pretty Good Weekend Overall

Sure, it's a cool start with many of the suburbs down into the upper 30s and lower 40s, but we'll warm up quickly through the day as that sun helps us out.
