The Cold Will Hold
Posted by Jeremy Reiner
Cold air is like me....stubborn at times. This is never more true than today (I'm talking cold, not my 'tude) as our temps start the day in the 20s and spend the entire day crawling into the low 30s by 4-5pm. This process often results in clouds, drizzle & even fog---no different this time either so you can bag the sunglasses. As we work into the evening & overnight hours, our temps will hold in the low 30s and slowly start climbing into the upper 30s (low 40s on the south shore/cape islands). Once again, this warming process will encourage clouds & fog to linger for much of the night.
Wednesday is interesting as most towns will see their temperatures reach the mid 50s by afternoon!! Keep in mind it was just last Wednesday that daytime temps were stuck in the teens. I'd like to say the sun will shine & birds will sing but that won't be the case as clouds are with us again and we will have a screaming south wind between 20-30mph. Eventually downpours fall out of those clouds tomorrow evening & night.
Those downpours are tied to a cold front that will blast through here early Thursday morning crushing any hopes of holding onto the 50s for two straight days. High temps on Thursday will occur before lunchtime (40s), then fall into the 30s by afternoon. Dry & seasonably cold weather takes over for Friday & Saturday.
Enjoy your Tuesday!

Wild & Wacky

Wild temperatures yesterday---from the 80s down into the low 60s in just an hour AND some heavy duty thunderstorms. The reason was a cool front that dropped in from Maine. That front is in western New England this morning and it's a chameleon as it will become a warm front and try to warm things back up during the day.

What a day! Breakneck temperature swings, thunder, tornadoes in Western Mass....and we're still in late May!

More Warmth

You have another warm & humid day with many towns repeating yesterday's weather. That means we start with clouds & fog for a bit before hazy sun gets going. That hazy sunshine will boost temps up into the low 80s by early to mid afternoon across much of the region. At the same time a cool front will begin dropping out of Maine (backdoor front) which will quickly send temps from the 70s/80s down into the 50s/60s by late afternoon & evening. Also, when this front rams into the warmth & humidity it will spark a few showers & thunderstorms during the afternoon.

With the snap of the fingers we were thrown into summer this afternoon. Heat, humidity, A/C and shorts - with a hazy sun to boot. But with the sea breeze knocking back the temperatures (and bringing in a round of downpours this evening), there are changes afoot.
