A Fling With Spring
Posted by Jeremy Reiner
The next 3 days offer some spring-like weather with temps easily reaching the 50s by the afternoon. I'd like to say we've turned the page from winter mode to spring mode but the winter pattern will hold through the rest of March--occasionally offering some mild days here & there. Enjoy them when they appear.
The first is today with many towns reaching the low 50s by afternoon despite a lot of clouds around. No worries about rain out of those clouds, it's a day and at times a breezy day too. Not too shabby for a Monday. Cloudy skies are with us tonight & it stays mild with patchy fog forming as the snow continues to melt.
Tuesday offers even milder temps but also our next storm. It will be rain with those mild temps and I think the first drops arrive around 2-3pm (a bit later in Boston) and that rain lingers well into Tuesday night. It will be a brief shot of heavy rain with many towns picking up an inch of rain. Normally an inch of rain would lead to a yawn from me but with all that snow melting combined with that inch of rain plan on some minor street (and stream) flooding tomorrow night.
That bag of rain is outta here on Wednesday but the mild temps are not as we flirt with 50 yet again. A breeze will add some chill to the air at times. Colder air will return to New England by Thursday & Friday as temps those days are below normal---30s/40s for afternoon highs.

Pulling The Fade

Our fun in the sun ends this afternoon as morning sunshine fades behind thickening clouds. As those clouds increase, a few showers break out this afternoon from west to east, with the highest chance for rain late afternoon and this evening. Most of the showers are light, especially the early afternoon ones, but a heavier shower or two is possible near day's end and early this evening. Highs reach the mid to upper 60s around noon, then fall back to near 60 mid to late afternoon thanks to scattered showers. These showers are brought to us by a warm front.

Quite a few clouds in the sky at times this afternoon, but the atmosphere lacked ample moisture to produce showers, so we made out just fine with temps near 70. Even the coast made it well into the 60s before the onshore wind knocked temps back.

Pretty Good Weekend Overall

Sure, it's a cool start with many of the suburbs down into the upper 30s and lower 40s, but we'll warm up quickly through the day as that sun helps us out.

An overall cooler day, but also a great end to the workweek as highs neared 70, low humidity continued and plenty of sunshine dominated the skies. Now all we need is this to continue through the weekend right?
