Yes, spring is finally here---the entire planet has an equal amount of daylight and for us in the northern hemisphere it will only get brighter. Now we just need to do something about this mid-winter pattern. The pattern happened before....anyone remember just 2 years ago (January 2011)? Yup, all that snow in just 5 weeks. It's happening later this year just later than we would like. Where is the endgame with this pattern?!? Sadly, it's not today, I think we have another 2 weeks before it breaks down. Today will be bright with partly sunny skies. That sunshine is getting strong now that we are into spring and will be able to push temps into the low 40s by afternoon. A gusty west wind will add a chill to the air at times though. Partly cloudy skies tonight with lows into the 20s.
Tomorrow is a close call with a developing ocean storm. I think it will be too far away to bother all of us but it will toss some snow showers into coastal southern New England by late afternoon & night. IN fact, a couple of inches of snow quite likely out on the Cape/Islands late tomorrow night. A coating to an inch is possible along the south shore & up into Boston late tomorrow night.
Sunshine returns in small doses on Friday and in much larger doses for this upcoming weekend. A slow warming will occur as well with temps by Sunday reaching the mid 40s---"normal" for this time of year.
Happy Spring!

Not much of a chance today with highs reaching near 50 this morning, only to fall back into the low to mid 40s this afternoon as a cold rain settles in.

Rain, rain, rain...
...but for many today was a day of hurry up and wait. Sure there were showers, but not every minute was washed out. With the events unfolding tonight, that's about to change.

Come On Ride The Train

Heavy rain is on the move! All afternoon long it was stalled over Western Massachusetts and Connecticut. Heavy pulses of rain traveled over the same towns and cities - a process meteorologists call "training" - resulting in flash flooding in some counties to our west.
