Fun In The Sun
Posted by Pete Bouchard
If you're into the sun (and who isn't after a cold, snowy finish to winter?) then the forecast is right down your alley. We have oodles of it in the days ahead - some blue, some shared with clouds - but one thing lacking is the storms.
We're entering a new pattern starting on Sunday. One that features a block in the jetstream. Recall that in late winter, a block of this sort conspired to hammer us with snow. This time, the tables have turned. Chilly air backs up to the Midwest, and wet weather curls up with a storm in the Southeast. Part of that storm will run up against our block on Monday, only to be shunted back to the Ohio Valley on Tuesday and Wednesday! That's some kind of backpedaling! It's not often you see storms turn and run as they approach New England, but then again, we don't see blocks like this too often either.
So with a lot of sun we should see a lot of warmth, right? Um, not really. Sure 70s are in the forecast on Sunday and perhaps Monday, but the pesky onshore wind will strengthen on Tuesday and Wednesday. Hence the slight drop in temperatures. It's also worth noting that the term "cooler coast" on the 7day forecast means that you could shave a good 5-6 degrees off any given high temperature if you live along Rt. 1, Rt. 3 in Greater Boston or along any shore roads.
Enjoy the weekend and be on the lookout for motorcycles and pedestrians!!
