Wild & Wacky

Wild temperatures yesterday---from the 80s down into the low 60s in just an hour AND some heavy duty thunderstorms. The reason was a cool front that dropped in from Maine. That front is in western New England this morning and it's a chameleon as it will become a warm front and try to warm things back up during the day.
Normally, this time of year, warm fronts breeze through here by mid morning but this spring has been different. You can thank that cold month of March we had as its kept the ocean quite cold this spring and that has made it difficult to get warm fronts to the coast. I think it's the same today where interior locations will warm into the low 70s with increasing humidity while closer to the coast the temps will struggle to make it out of the 50s.
That warmer air will come at a price though. The warm (and humid) air will lead to scattered showers/t-storms by late afternoon from Orange through Worcester and down to Battledore. Downpours, lightning, small hail are the greatest concerns but because a warm front will be near these thunderstorms, some of the storms may try to rotate.
In any event, we are all into the warm & humid air tomorrow with a continued risk of late afternoon showers & t-storms.
