Turning A Corner

Made it through another deluge last night. Some minor flooding in the cities (underpasses, backyards, parking lots) during the event, but now it's the larger stem rivers that are in flood. Take your pick:
It's been one heck of wet spell. Here's something to put it in perspective:
As you might expect, all that rain has banished the thought of a mini-drought to head off summer. Instead, we're left to wonder if the remaining summer days will be washed away like...like...(cue dramatic music) 2009.
I wouldn't bet on it...yet. I'm seeing a shift in the pattern next week. Bout time, right? Well, here's a word of caution: it's drier, but it's not the wholesale shift I'd like to see to get out of a wet spell. Only time will tell if we slump back into a wet pattern or we continue on the path of more summerlike weather (i.e. heat and humidity). We'll just have to see if this thing has legs.
Now onto the weekend. Saturday shines, Sunday stumbles - but not into a drenching rain. Few showers will race out of NY State and hit us by afternoon. They're weak, scattered and light, so this isn't anything to get into a huff over. Plan on a few to pass overhead anytime after lunch.
Enjoy your weekend, be safe, and watch for motorcycles and pedestrians.
