We officially made heat wave status this afternoon when we cracked 90° in Boston just after noontime. For the record:
But the buck should stop here. Clouds will limit the sun tomorrow as a front forms across Northern New England. This front will be the trigger point for thunderstorms, but since it will be on top of us early, I'm thinking they fire by EARLY afternoon, not in the evening as in the past couple of nights.
That front stalls overhead on Thursday and drops out temperatures to the lowest levels of the week. On top of that, we're looking at general showers in the afternoon to wet things down. This is our warm front pushing through.
And warm it will be through the weekend. Muggy is more like it, since I DON'T see us returning to the searing 90s anytime soon.
Before you go cancelling those weekend plans, keep this in mind: the threat for storms in the afternoon is typical summer fare here in New England. Although I can't guarantee everyone gets hit, I do think there will be misses too. Go about your business and have a Plan B in the works just in case.
