As Ugly As 80 Gets

So it's summer, and temps near 80 are good right? Well, the problem is, this 7day stretch that features temps near 80, also features plenty of scattered showers and storms and lots of humidity. In fact, with dew points rising toward 70, the "frizz factor" shows ponytail weather for the next week. That high humidity also provides the fuel for localized downpours.
A flash flood watch extends through this afternoon for locally heavy rain in the scattered storms that move through. It won't rain the whole day, but when it rains, it pours. Those downpours can produce quite a bit of rain in a short time period, creating pockets of urban flooding, street flooding and flooding of poor drainage areas, so that's something we'll watch for.
Also, with any sun breaking out today, temps quickly jump up toward 80 degrees. That'll create enough instability for a few stronger storms to fire as there is the slight risk of severe storms.
So that's the bad, what about the good? Again, at least it's warm, and yes, we'll have breaks of sun at times today and also over the weekend. You'll likely get your chance to get some yard work done or errands run between batches of storms as dry hours are with us too.
Next week is more of the same before signs are the pattern finally breaks by the end of the week and next weekend.
