Even though Boston didn't reach 90 yesterday (85), Taunton and Fitchburg both did, extending their heat waves. It ends today for everyone. We had a lil backdoor front yesterday push all the way to western New England--popping off showers & t-storms along the way. Those storms are long gone but the front did its thing--removing the 90 degree heat from much of New England for a few days.
The trade-off to this pause in the hot pattern will be starting the day with clouds & fog. In fact, it may take much of the day to shed those low clouds/fog at the beaches. Farther inland, the low clouds & fog will give way to sunshine by early afternoon. Inland locations--towns, pools, golf courses, tennis courts will find afternoon temps near 80 with humidity whereas the beaches of southern New England will see temperatures in the upper 60s to low 70s. Despite all the clouds & humidity, I don't think we have to be concerned with showers & t-storms. Sweet.
As we step into midweek, the warmer air will return from western New England. This return trip will kick off 2 rounds of showers & t-storms on Wednesday. The first round occurs early in the morning (4-9am) while the second round arrives late in the day (after 5pm). In between will be partly sunny skies and temps bouncing back into the 80s.
