...And Into The Fire

Day four of the heat wave featured mid 90s heat with heat index values near 100. Today will mark day 5 and temps still have room to climb as most cities & towns will once again reach the mid (and now) upper 90s. Like the past several days humidity will be attending this heat wave rave and that will push heat indices to dangerous levels by afternoon....low 100s. When outside take it easy & drink that water---splashing & swimming in that stuff will also serve you well. In terms of thunderstorms, a small chance does exist late in the day but most towns are just hot & humid.
Friday will be the hottest day of the year with most towns in the upper 90s and even close to 100 out in metrowest as well as the Merrimack Valley. Once again, humidity will be present and that will create heat indices into the low 100s across much of the region. Hazy sunshine dominates the sky with just a small chance of a late day/early evening thundershower.
Onto the weekend! Saturday is moving day as the heat/humidity will slowly get moved out of New England. This moving process will come in the form of a cool front that will bump into the heat/humidity which will pop some scattered showers & t-storms during the afternoon. Some of the storms are likely to become strong/severe across the northeast--stay tuned through our weather app when outside Saturday afternoon. Still another hot & humid day expected with most towns approaching 90 before those storms arrive.
On Sunday the heat wave will be done with partly to mostly sunny skies, lower humidity as well as lower temps. Most towns will see afternoon highs in the low to mid 80s.
Stay cool today.
