From The Faucet to The Beach

The skies have opened up the last 12-18 hours, and that allows many of us to pick up a solid 1-2" of rain before this system leaves us. A few locations across the Cape and Islands, especially from Nantucket to Chatham to Eastham, could see locally higher amounts since there is a plume of tropical moisture just south and southeast of Nantucket this morning. If that clips the Cape, a good 3-4" is possible. As of 6AM, it appears that much of that hard hitting area of flooding rain stays just to our east, so many of us won't have to deal with those totals, but 1-2" is still a solid amount.
Any batches of heavier rain that move in this morning provides the opportunity for ponding on the roadways and urban flooding issues. We'll watch for that potential as a Flash Flood Watch is in place until noon.
Rain tapers to scattered showers this afternoon and eventually we dry out late day and into this evening.
How bout' the Taylor Swift concert? Could have a sprinkle or passing showers late afternoon, but we're dry this evening with temps in the upper 60s. Have fun out there!
How bout' the weekend? Great weather on Saturday and we're back to the beach with temperatures back into the 80s under a mix of sun and clouds and moderate amounts of humidity. Sunday will be ok overall, just not as great as a few scattered showers and storms break out in the afternoon, especially outside 495. The overall rain chance Sunday is 40%.
