It's Been A While

It's been about a month since we've had some real summertime heat & humidity. August temps have been running 1-2 below normal with Worcester yet to see a high temp in the 80s and Boston only seeing the thermometer reach 85 twice---quite the turnaround compared to July. The jet stream is the reason as it has been pinned south of New England for a few weeks now. That changes today.
Plan on warm temps as most cities & towns reach the upper 80s--even close to 90 for some. I do think there will be a sea breeze so coastal cities/towns will briefly reach the upper 80s but for much of the afternoon those temps will be in the low to mid 80s. Also on the increase will be humidity. It won't be pure tropical air like we saw back in July but it will definitely feel more humid than recent days/weeks. Similar weather is on tap for Wednesday. Next two days a great for the beaches.
On Thursday the humidity will peak making it the most uncomfortable day of the bunch. Temps will also add to the discomfort with afternoon highs reaching the upper 80s. Clouds will be on the increase and so will the chance for late day/evening thunderstorms. These thunderstorms are tied to a cool front and that front will do its thing by Friday sweeping the heat & humidity out of New England.
