Dry Times Ahead
Posted by Jeremy Reiner
More sunshine on tap today. In fact, over the next 7 days we only have one shot at rain and that will only be a scattering of showers/t-storms late tomorrow evening. It's interesting when you glance at the monthly rain tally for Boston. We're only running about .34" below normal BUT we've only seen rain on 3 of the 20 days. That's a strain on the lawns & gardens (but not the vacation industry).
More sunshine today means another warm day (perhaps hot) with many cities & towns reaching the upper 80s by afternoon. Even a few 90s are likely. This will be a dry heat though so no concern of dangerous heat index values just good old fashioned summertime heat. Great for the beaches, pools, lakes, ponds and slip-n-slides.
Tomorrow there will be a little more humidity in the air and that will lead to a build up of clouds by afternoon. This added humidity will combine with an approaching cold front by the evening hours. It's this front that will offer some scattered showers/t-storms after dark Thursday. Most towns won;t see any rain though.
This front will sweep the heat & humidity out of New England during the day on Friday setting us up for a return to fantastic summer weather this weekend. Afternoon temps over the weekend will reach the upper 70s and overnight lows dipping into the 50s.
