Stuck In The Soup

No question it's a soupy air mass in place as dew point levels rose into the lower 70s this afternoon. Despite a lot of clouds, a glimpse or two of sun was all we needed for temps to bounce back into the lower 80s as other than a few showers scattered about, many of the hours throughout the day were dry.
As of late afternoon, the only impressive thunderstorm nearby has been across Franklin County, close to the Greenfield area, as torrential rains, damaging wind gusts and hail plagued that area. Behind that storm, you need to travel to back to Upstate New York to find more organized storms. We'll watch those storms move east, but slowly, meaning they'll be in a weakening state early this evening as they approach thanks to the loss of daytime heating. Also, locations in Upstate NY and northern New England are closer to the actual front stuck in the Northeast. It's that front that helps provide the lift to the atmosphere to ignite those storms. I'll leave in a passing shower or storm in the forecast for the evening as there's instability and plenty of moisture around, but they won't be numerous like they are west of here. Slight chance of a passing shower at Fenway, but it's likely we'll get the game in.
Overnight, the high humidity continues and with a lot of low level moisture in place, areas of fog form. Lows tonight hold near 70.
More of the same is in store tomorrow. That means more clouds than sun, and dry hours amid that scattering of showers and storms. While it won't be an all day washout in terms of raining all hours, if you catch a shower or storm over your town for 30min or so, it can put down a lot of water in a short period of time. Overall chance of rain on Sunday runs 40%.
Monday into midday Tuesday does have a better opportunity of widespread soaking showers and storms as the front to our west closes in on us. There could be a few strong storms Monday afternoon too, so we'll have to keep an eye on that. The main threat however is the potential of heavy rain producing localized flooding.
Sick of the humidity? We start drying out Tuesday late-day and have more comfortable weather returning for the rest of the week. Low rains chance too.
Have a good rest of the weekend!
