The Good and the Bad
Posted by Chris Lambert
We'll have mixed reviews here on this Sunday as scattered downpours drop locally heavy rain at times, at other times, it'll be dry with breaks of hazy sun.
The rain is good news for the lawns and gardens that need it, but bad news for folks getting hit on the golf course or at the beach. Another down side of the rain today is that it can be too much too fast. The steering winds that guide these storms are weak, meaning the storms are slow to move. Already this morning, we've seen locally over 1" across the Cape, and torrential rain has prompted a flash flood warning in Kent County, RI.
Bottom line, when it rains, it pours. Although lightning and thunder can put on a show at times, it'll be the rain that creates the main threat of flooding on the roads and poor drainage areas. I'll do my best to update radar trends via twitter @clamberton7 to keep you updated if you're out and about.
While it's possible for a shower or storm pass for the Sox game, with dry times too and temps in the lower 80s, we should get the game in.
Showers and storms are more hit than miss on Monday with locally heavy rain the main threat again. If we do get a few breaks of sun, temps will warm enough to fire strong thunderstorms, so we'll keep an eye on that. Ditto for Tuesday.
The storms and high humidity do break Tuesday night and it'll feel more Septemberish starting Wednesday.
