Lots of Ups and Downs

It's transition time around here as summer tapers off and the switch to the cooler months lies ahead. For us, that means a lot of temperature swings, including what we saw today. Many towns started off in the 40s this morning, and finished close to 80 degrees by mid afternoon.
The sunshine did fade this afternoon, and we'll track occasional passing sprinkles or light showers through here tonight and tomorrow morning. We'll still have our dry hours in there too, and by tomorrow afternoon, it's back to the sunshine. Morning tee time, softball game or participating in the Jimmy Fund Walk? Sprinkles or a brief passing light shower in morning is more of a small nuisance than a big problem. Once we do get more sun in the afternoon, it'll accompany a gusty NW wind and cooler temps as afternoon numbers barely stay above 70.
That northwest wind drives in cooler air tomorrow night, and by Monday morning, we're back to the upper 30s and lower 40s in the suburbs, only to finish the day in the upper 60s with despite plenty of sunshine.
You won't have to wait long for a warm-up though as Wednesday is back to beach weather. The humidity comes up by then and temperatures make a run into the upper 80s, perhaps even a few lower 90s!
That too changes quickly, and by next weekend, we're back to the 60s for highs on Saturday. To get there, a few strong thunderstorms are likely on Thursday with a late-day cold front.
Bottom line, you still need access to everything from the shorts to the sweaters, and it may be just a bit early to pull out that window A/C.
